Their story is a symphony of exploration and connection, a journey that has taken them from the Midwest to international stages, carving out a unique place in the folk landscape. Their presence has graced stages alongside artists such as Mighty Poplar, Sierra Ferrell, Aiofe O’ Donovan, Melissa Carper, Jamie Wyatt and Joe Nichols at concerts and festivals like Summerfest, FreshGrass and the Oyster Ridge Music Festival.

Remembering Nancy Wilson - Evolutions in Jazz w/ Mercedes Nicole & Jacqueline Harmon

Remembering Nancy Wilson - Evolutions in Jazz w/ Mercedes Nicole & Jacqueline Harmon

Wednesday, August 13 @ 7:30PMWed, Aug 13 @ 7:30PM

Mainstage Theatre, 216 Union Street, Seattle

Soft –spoken Mercedes Nicole has an intimate and electric stage presence that reaches beyond the limits of time and space. Whether it’s the Blues or Jazz, music is in her blood! She has that kind of voice that demands attention, not because of volume, but because it touches the heart and interrupts one’s thoughts. Her voice wraps itself like a comforter around the human experience, encouraging uplift, seeking not only triumph but healing. Mercedes is that exquisite mix of a mezzo soprano and contralto that permeates and interrupts one's thoughts, often with uncanny control...she lingers.

She first débuted her talent for singing Blues at the Westport Blues Festival, where she got warm nod, and a bear hug from B.B. King’s daughter, Claudette King that afternoon. Mercedes has been in local Blues scenes all over Western Washington. Mercedes performance bio includes Demetrio’s Jazz Alley, The Triple Door, Seattle Art Museum, Shoreline, Earshot and Vashon Arts Festival, Seattle Center house, the Confluence Music Festival, and tons of music reviews.

Howie Day

Howie Day

Thursday, August 14 @ 7:30PMThu, Aug 14 @ 7:30PM

Mainstage Theatre, 216 Union Street, Seattle

Howie Day’s emotionally resonant lyrics and inventive melodies have earned him both critical praise and a legion of devoted fans. He is known for his energetic, heartfelt shows, where he connects with audiences through the strength of his songwriting and his quirky sense of humor. Day’s warm tenor voice “soars into fluttering, high registers, but also grates with real, pleading grit,” as one critic put it.

A native of Bangor, Maine, Day began playing piano at age five and guitar at age 12. By 15, he was writing his own songs and performing across New England. Shortly after graduating high school, Day became a fixture at college coffeehouses across the U.S. He wrote, financed and released his first effort, Australia, which was named Best Debut Album at the 2001 Boston Music Awards. Day began experimenting with effects pedals and loop-sampling techniques as he performed, layering live percussion with vocal harmonies and guitar parts to become a veritable one-man band. He went on to sell over 30,000 copies of Australia as he navigated the independent music scene and continued to hone his craft.

After signing with Epic Records, Day released his major-label debut, Stop All The World Now, and hit the road to support it. Since the release of this groundbreaking album 20 years ago, featuring 4x platinum single ‘Collide’, Howie Day continues to astound audiences with his everlasting music. Two additional studio albums (Sound The Alarm, Lanterns) and his incredible live show will no doubt cultivate life changing and poignant moments for people around the world for many years to come.
